Abstract : This National health survey assessed the caries situation in 12,15 year old students selected from all districts in Alexandria including rural and urban areas. The sample comprised 3628 students examined for their caries experience and treatment needs. It revealed a very low caries experience among both 12 years old (0.4 DMFT), and 15 years (0.72 DMFT), with the percentage of caries free children of 75.2%, 66.5% in the two age group. Females had generally higher caries experience. Preventive care accounted for the highest need among the two age groups followed by two surface filling and other types of treatment needs. These results emphasize the importance of health education and prevention foe school students to keep and improve this very low level of caries
