Abstract : This work aimed to study the influence of mixing alginate impression material by disinfecting solution as a new method for disinfection of impressions. The study was done to show the effect of these solutions on the setting time, working time and dimensional accuracy of alginate impression material. The results revealed that mixing alginate powder with equal amounts of water and disinfectant solution (50%) was an acceptable method for reduction of bacterial growth without altering the setting time, working time and dimensional accuracy of alginate.
