Abstract : Lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory muco-cutaneous disease of unknown etiology. The immunologic system plays a leading role in the pathogenesis. Systemic corticosteroid is the most effective drug in management of OLP, but due to the severity and chronicity of the disease, high doses of corticosteroid usually are needed for prolonged periods. Because of the frequent occurrence of corticosteroid side effects, supplementation with other drugs is required. Levamisole was chosen to supplement together with prednisone hopping to reduce the prednisone doses, its side effects and to achieve disease control. The results of the present study revealed a significant beneficial effect from levamisole when used in combination with lower doses of prednisone in management ofOLP.
