Mobile dental clinics a pioneering idea aimed to provide free- therapeutic and outreach services for a variety of segments of the community whom their conditions hinder them from dental treatment, for physical reasons, or health, or lack of transportation, or financial or the lack of nearby health centers of their whereabouts. It is a treatment, prevention and awareness program, for oral and dental diseases that offers its services through mobile clinics and portable dental units. The idea started with the participation of the private sector (Savola Group) through the program “Education and community service” for the generous financial support (more than two million Riyals) to buy a mobile dental clinics vehicle according to the international specifications. The first of its field visits started in 1432 AH/2011ADin several places and schools in Jeddah city and surrounding villages targeting specified population sectors in the underserved areas including elderly patients, orphans, and special needs.
